I have had a bit of a lack in posts this week. Not because I haven't been getting dressed everyday. But, rather because I have found how to put the quiet in quiet time (for this week, at least) and that is when I normally do my blog post. I know. It's a miracle. Read on, my friends, read on.
During "quiet time" my daughter and I have been taking advantage of this amazing spring-like weather to do some yardwork. Now, for anyone that knows me well, I think I just heard audible gasps through the computer. I. did. yardwork. Just writing those words is as shocking to me as it probably is for you to read them. Let me explain. We got a bumper crop of acorns this year. Which is really too bad because we got one last year and they are only supposed to happen every 7 years or something like that. So, thinking we were in the clear, we mulched our entire property (+1.25 acres) in September. Unfortunately, the acorns starting dropping about 2 weeks later. By the bucket loads. Leaving us with acorn mulch and a lot of disappointment.
However, I discovered that by spending "quiet time" outside picking up sticks and acorns that my sweet, loud little girl will be so preoccupied with sitting in the wheelbarrow that she won't make a peep for 15+ minutes at a time, except for the occasional excitement squeal. Seriously, it is like finding another wonder of the world. In my own yard. After about 15 minutes, she usually jumps out, spills whatever I have put in the wheelbarrow and runs off to play. But, then she comes back, jumps back in and the cycle starts again. She even had a tea party in there, on top of all the acorns. All of this happens while I find myself not caring if I am raking or getting dirty because it is quiet.
We are headed outside again in a bit, but since she is currently practicing dragon noises while sitting on the potty I thought I would take a couple moments to post today's outfit. Happy weekend, friends.
PS. You'll see I even have some mud on my boots to show you just how outdoorsy I have been this week!
PPS. Baggy black t-shirts aren't flattering. But, I was trying to make up for the skimp factor on my child's size jacket by adding an extra large t-shirt to the mix.

Seven dollars
Do you ever feel like you don't have anything to wear? I have been feeling that way lately, although in looking at my closet it is obvious I have plenty to wear. I rarely go clothes shopping with a particular item in mind because I don't ever really need anything. Although I do tend to have a wishlist of things I want am keeping my eyes out for at any given time.
A pair of black wedge heels has been on my radar for a while. But, here's the catch. While I wanted them, I didn't want to spend much on them since I knew they wouldn't be worn all that often. So, when I spotted these ones for $7.48 at Target, I didn't hesitate. I don't tend to buy Target shoes since I can always find a designer brand on clearance foralmost the same price as a new pair at Tar-jay. There is always an exception to the rule, and well, for $7.48, I can totally make an exception.

Belted
Black Friday is one of those days that calls for comfort clothes (for easy maneuverability through the store aisles) and also so your waistline can have some room to recover from the feast the day before. Needless to say, I wasn't wearing anything blog-worthy. Plus, I think of Black Friday shopping as a sport, so my active wear was totally appropriate.
The dress I am wearing today is something I wore a lot during both of my pregnancies so I always feel a little weird wearing it when I am not pregnant. That being said, I decided to belt it and that worked pretty well since the only thing in my belly right now is Thanksgiving leftovers!

Gobble Gobble
My strategy for Thanksgiving this year was to wear something tight fitting in hopes that the scale won't betray me in the morning. Last year I was 8 weeks post partum but still looked (and felt) like I had just given birth. I thought I would make up for it this year and actually get dressed for the occasion. Plus, there's nothing like adding a little Kardashian to your turkey day (via my very own round rump and thigh high boots). Happy Thanksgiving, y'all!

Easy breezy
I don't know what is going on with the weather here, it is hard to believe this is Thanksgiving week. Today it is amazing. Easy, breezy and warm. To fully embrace the weather, I thought it was the perfect day to try out my equally easy and breezy kimono jacket. When I bought it, I imagined wearing it with some knee high or taller boots. However, since today doesn't feel like a boot kind of day this outfit kind of just came together. I love mixing patterns so the animal print belt seemed like a perfect, unexpected match.

Wearing a muumuu is a cinch
Disclaimer: the following is a recent excerpt from my facebook page. The sale is now over so don't drop what you are doing and run over there. Don't worry though, it will be back and so will I. My palms are sweating just thinking about it.
Dear J.Crew Warehouse Sale,
You need to leave and go to another city. I can't quit you.
Kristie xoxo
One of the coolest things about the J.Crew Warehouse Sale is the magnitude of salesman samples being sold, with some items never making it into the stores. Thismuumuu dress is one of my sample finds and I have yet to see anything like it on the J.Crew website. Without the belt it is a little too reminiscent of my maternity days. But, cinched at the waist and suddenly it is perfect.
Plus, the weather today is more spring than fall. Since I am an opportunist, I am taking advantage and wearinga muumuu something I had assumed would sit in my closet until the weather warmed. Cue my sigh of relief when I realized I even had a pair of sandals handy (most of my spring/summer wardrobe is packed away).
