Pinterest Pinspiration: jeans, tweed + neon

Apparently I have a thing for jeans and blazers.   I only know this because I have an awful lot of pins with this look and an equal amount of jeans and blazers in my closet.  However, I often feel like wearing a blazer looks too formal for my normal running around activities.  Which doesn't make sense since I wear skirts and dresses often enough.

Boyfriend jeans are always a classic look.  As are tweed jackets (a la Chanel).  And throw a white tee in the mix and voila, you have a totally perfectly put together look.  Why the heck is it that I needed to have Pinterest remind me of this?  That I am not sure.  So let's just cut to the chase.

Here's my Pinterest Pinspiration for today.

Boyfriend jeans + tweed jacket + tshirt = done.  You've certainly seen that neon is HOT right now but added to a tweed jacket.  Shut. up.  See the subtle neon goodness below.  The best part?  This jacket was already in my closet.  For a couple of years.  Glad it is finally getting some wear.

PS.  Oh, and did you know the latest accessory is the white finger wrap?  Let's just say this morning I learned that a knife + an unruly avocado pit = 5 stitches in my finger.  Whoops.

Just peachy

We changed up our normal Sunday routine a bit (if you call doing nothing a routine) and had a family playdate with some friends.  It was so nice that the adults kids had a playmate.  That meant I had to get dressed, since it is not exactly welcoming to have people over when you are in your pajamas; unless you are sick, just gave birth or it is a pajama party. None of which applied here.

The weather is more Spring than Winter these past couple of days and I am embracing it.  So, yes, you are seeing bare arms and legs.  It's that nice out.  I find this weather to be just peachy - kind of like my top.

Easy breezy

I don't know what is going on with the weather here, it is hard to believe this is Thanksgiving week.  Today it is amazing.  Easy, breezy and warm.  To fully embrace the weather, I thought it was the perfect day to try out my equally easy and breezy kimono jacket.  When I bought it, I imagined wearing it with some knee high or taller boots.  However, since today doesn't feel like a boot kind of day this outfit kind of just came together.  I love mixing patterns so the animal print belt seemed like a perfect, unexpected match.

Coming up roses

I bought this blazer a couple of years ago.  I love that it's timeless and vintage looking all at the same time.  I remember thinking it looked like Victorian upholstery.  Obviously from the ridiculously low price tag ($10), others agreed and didn't want to wear their Great Aunt Maple's sofa on their back.  I, on the other hand, immediately scanned my surroundings (in case someone else tried to snatch the jacket out of my hands) and threw it in my cart.  I. wanted. it. It's been a match made in heaven ever since.

The rust color in the jacket and the peach color in my lace tank are an unexpected and feminine combination - one of my favorites.  Plus, there is something about the pairing of ankle jeans and flats that I just love.

While we are talking about ankle jeans, let me just clarify for my father's sake:  No, Dad, these are not clamdiggers.  Those would go mid-calf.  And I probably wouldn't be wearing them.  Yes, maybe highwaters, but for lack of a better term, let's call them ankle jeans, okay?  Regardless, thanks for dutifully checking my new blog everyday.

P.S. Don't you all love the princess my daughter drew on the chalkboard today?

Buttons and bows

The white buttons on my shirtdress are kind of throwing me off today.  Either that or it's my feverish babe.  At least pairing the dress with this pair of burnt-orange-skinny-but-somehow-flattering pants and nude flats kind of makes it all work. The chic bow stamp on the shoes cancel out the random buttons on the shirt.  See, it's like a mathematical equation with all the canceling and stuff.  They really should teach this stuff in school, don't you agree?

And while we are talking about things people should do, I wish you could feel these pants because it's almost like they are straight out of the 70's minus the bell bottoms and polyester. Groovy.
