I heart hearts

I've been sick.  For over a week.  And not sic like cool.  Sick like no voice, no sleep, crazy headaches, and a major test of my patience.  And parenting skills.

It's Valentine's Day today and my voice is finally back.  The raspy-but-definitely-not-sexy sound is gone.  My energy is back too, but that could be due to the Valentine's chocolates Girl Scout cookies I made the mistake of buying.

I am not usually an advocate of theme dressing, unless you are under the age of 14.  However, once you have kids, you suddenly see some justification for wearing heart pins and holiday sweaters.  Okay, maybe not heart pins and holiday sweaters, but at least a heart blouse.  You also find justification for using a heart shaped cookie cutter to make themed lunches.  As you can imagine, my daughter's lunch was cut into hearts today.  Every. single. item.  Including the strawberries. I couldn't help myself.  So, I spread the love to my clothes as well and broke down and wore a subtle heart-emblazoned cami.  With a turtleneck, of course.  Because you all know I heart turtlenecks.  The rest of the outfit is pretty basic and not really romantic. But, neither is coughing up a lung for the past week, so let's take what we can get.  Progress is progress.

Have a lovely Valentine's day!

Blazin'

I love a good blazer.  Especially when it is girly, pink and adorned with bows.  Just to make sure I wasn't too sugary sweet today, I paired it with my boyfriend jeans and some wingtips.  And a metallic pink bow belt.  Okay, that is in the sugary sweet category too, but who can resist?

Oh, and a good white t-shirt goes a long long way.  Invest.  It doesn't even need to be a good one.  It just needs to fit well and not show your upper lady bits (you know what I am talking about, right?).  No one wants a see-through white t-shirt, unless you are at a wet t-shirt contest and I imagine those days are long over for most.  If they aren't, they should be.

New year, new outfit

I wish I could say I rang in the New Year wearing sequins and glitter.  But, that didn't happen.  Something along the lines of yoga pants and a movie is more accurate.  At least I can say I started 2012 well rested from a full nights sleep.  Now that is looking at the glass half full, right?

I can also say I started New Year's Day off right by hanging out with family and friends.  It was a casual, family baking, tea drinking, friend talking, playground playing kind of day.  What kind of outfit goes with that?  Jeans, of course, and just to start the New Year off on the right foot, a striped turtleneck - you know, to really go wild and crazy.  My outfit was a total mix of old and new.  Just the way I like it and kind of fitting for the first day of the year.

Religion and wedges

Whoever merchandises the women's denim line at True Religion deserves a raise.  And a bonus.  And a high five. While I am at it, the designer of my Corso Como Dodie Wedges also needs some love.  A lot of love.

The socks I am wearing are a whole different story though.  What are they?  Seriously, can anyone explain these to me?  I bought them thinking they were trouser socks.  Only to realize later they are missing the toe.  Think legwarmers made out of pantyhose.  I'm confused.  Obviously.

That still didn't stop me from wearing them.
